International Code of Botanical Nomenclature
(Tokyo Code), Electronic version

DIVISION I. PRINCIPLES(原則)

Principle I

Botanical nomenclature(植物命名法) is independent of zoological(動物命名法) and bacteriological nomenclature(細菌命名法). The Code(国際植物命名規約) applies equally to names of taxonomic groups(分類学的群) treated as plants whether or not these groups were originally so treated (see Pre. 7).

Principle II

The application of names of taxonomic groups is determined by means of nomenclatural types(命名法上のタイプ).

Principle III

The nomenclature(命名法) of a taxonomic group is based upon priority of publication(発表の優先権).

Principle IV

Each taxonomic group with a particular circumscription(特定の範囲), position(位置), and rank(ランク(階級)) can bear only one correct name(正しい学名(正名)), the earliest that is in accordance with the Rules(本命名規約の規則), except in specified cases.

Principle V

Scientific names(学問上の名、すなわち学名) of taxonomic groups are treated as Latin(ラテン語) regardless of their derivation(由来).

Principle VI

The Rules(規則) of nomenclature are retroactive(以前に遡って効力を発する) unless expressly limited.
